Women's History Month in the Schoolhouse

Hi mamas,

All throughout the month of March, students enjoyed reading and writing all about strong, smart, trail blazing women who made a difference in the world!

Ada Lovelace

We loved learning about the amazing Ada Lovelace, the world’s first computer programmer! Her love for both language and math helped her write the code for the first calculator.

Our students enjoyed reading, writing, and learning all about Ada Lovelace, and had so much fun cracking codes of their own! 💻

Bessie Coleman

Bessie Coleman was the first black woman to hold a pilot’s license! ✈️ She pushed through barriers and fought against segregation. Known as “Queen Bess,” Coleman became a high-profile aerial stunt pilot performing dangerous tricks at air shows. Bessie Coleman’s pioneer role was an inspiration to early African American pilots! ❤️✈️

Amelia Earhart

Next, students learned all about the trailblazing Amelia Earhart who fought hard for women’s rights and equality! 📚

Our second grade learners had fun making text to self connections, dressing up like Amelia Earhart, and letting their imaginations take flight! 👩‍✈️✈️

Mother Teresa

Finally we learned about Mother Teresa, who changed the world by serving others through her love and dedication.

In our lesson, students are able to create their own "Nobel Peace Prize", write down character traits on the back that are meaningful to them, and hang it in their room! 🏅
