Celebrating Black History Month!
Hi mamas,
We celebrated Black History Month with some great reads from our learning library with writing lessons featuring bold women in Black History!
Celebrate Black history all year long with our “Bold Women in Black History” lessons. Learn about these trailblazers at home with your learners, in our shop now! ✏️📚
We loved learning all about trailblazing women in Black History, like Sojourner Truth!
Listen in to hear some student interviews on our Sojourner Truth lesson. Students share their favorite character traits, fun facts, and “Dear Sojourner” letters. 📝
We had an amazing time celebrating Black History Month with our very special guest author Ada-Ari! 📚
Ada-Ari took us on an interactive journey to Africa where we learned all about African culture, heritage, and had hands-on experiences with authentic African artifacts through music and movement!
We even got to sample delicious homemade Nigerian food thanks to my students’ mama. ❤️
After a lively reading of The Spider’s Thin Legs, 🕷️ students dressed up in authentic Ghanaian “Kente Cloth”, acted out daily life skills with handmade bowls, 🥣 brooms, 🧹 and woven baskets. 🇬🇭
Students loved this interactive cultural experience while listening to traditional African music, and exploring musical instruments! 🪘
