Each year on the Sunday which falls closest to Nov. 30th, we get out our advent calendars & wreaths to count down the days for the coming of our savior Jesus Christ on Christmas Day! 🌟

Little learners gather to hear about the special and expectant season of Advent. Downloadable Advent workbook HERE !

As we count down the days until Christmas we celebrate this week’s theme of “Love.” We focus on how we can show Love to others!❤️ Check out our Advent wreath making video, and join us for a meaningful, and memory making tradition and craft ✂️that you can enjoy year after year with your kids! 🎄

Celebrating Advent all month long with our advent wreath making craft. We are celebrating each weeks theme beginning with the first candle of “hope,” then “peace,” third week “joy,” and forth week “love.” We light the last candle for “Christ” on Christmas morning.

Gingerbread Acrostic Poems & Dough Making

Our gingerbread theme is always a big hit among our students! After a reading of “The Gingerbread Man,” little learners love to use all of their senses to create gingerbread acrostic poems using “adjectives” and “verbs” to describe their gingerbread men.

Using our sense of taste, touch and smell, we make gingerbread play dough of our own to roll out our letters, and real gingerbread cookie dough for the tasting! Visit our recipe blog for our fun & easy gingerbread play dough recipe you can make at home with your littles! ❤️🎄

The Polar Express

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a reading of the “Polar Express” By Chris Van Allsburg! Our simile study has become a rich tradition in the “Little Red Schoolhouse”! Students love being text detectives, 🔍 picking out their favorite similes, and writing them down ✍️.

We created meaningful text connections while wearing pajamas and drinking hot cocoa, just like the characters in this classic book! 📚🎄🎅🏻

Letters to Edwood the Elf

Every year on December 1 our little elf friend “Edwood” flies in from the North Pole to visit our Little Red Schoolhouse, and help us count down the days until Christmas! Students are so excited to run in each day to class and see where “Edwood” is! ❤️🎄

Celebrating Hanukkah!

Happy Hanukkah! Little learners got to read, write, and learn all about this holiday celebration also known as the “Festival Of Lights.” 🕎 Connecting with literature has never been so fun! 📚Our students loved eating Latkes just like the latkes in Lemony Snicket’s book “The Latke Who Couldn’t Stop Screaming,” and tasted chocolate coins “gelt” as a special treat.
